Supporting Therapists in Deepening Clinical Insight and Professional Growth
Our consultation offers a reflective space to deepen your clinical insight, sharpen your psychodynamic thinking, and navigate complex therapeutic work with nuance and confidence.
Professional Consultation
Build Your Clinical Skills & Case Understanding
Our work goes beyond symptom management or surface-level strategies. Through a psychodynamic lens, we’ll look at the unconscious dynamics at play in your cases—exploring transference, developmental history, and relational patterns that inform the therapy process. Together, we’ll deepen your capacity to think psychodynamically and hold the complexity of your clients’ inner worlds.
Understand Your Reactions and Feelings Towards Clients
Consultation is a space to reflect on the emotional undercurrents of your work. We pay close attention to your countertransference—not just as a reaction, but as valuable information about the client’s experience and your therapeutic stance. With curiosity and care, we explore how your emotional responses shape the treatment and inform your clinical intuition.
Enhance Your Professional Development for Better Client Retention
Therapists who commit to depth-oriented learning often sustain richer, longer-term work with clients. We’ll discuss how post-graduate development—such as study groups, your own therapy, writing, or teaching—can deepen your clinical thinking and enhance your ability to hold clients in a meaningful, long-term process.
Problem-Solve the Challenges of Private Practice
Building and maintaining a private practice can be overwhelming. Receive hands-on support and practical strategies for overcoming common challenges—whether it’s managing your workload, handling tough client situations, or navigating business logistics.
Grow Your Network and Build Referral Sources
Relational practice extends beyond the therapy room. We’ll explore how you present yourself professionally, what inhibits or supports your confidence. Building a network is also about understanding your professional story—and how to share it meaningfully.

Raquel Carrera Adams, LCPC, LPC, NCC
Raquel Carrera Adams, LCPC, LPC, NCC, is a psychodynamic therapist and clinical consultant known for her depth, warmth, and insight. She works with licensed therapists and seasoned clinicians who want to enrich their practice through thoughtful, reflective consultation.
Raquel supports clinicians in refining their therapeutic stance by honing the art of listening for what lies beneath the surface—attending not only to what clients say, but also to what remains unspoken, symbolic, or unconsciously communicated. Her approach to consultation creates space for exploring emotional undercurrents, transference and countertransference, therapeutic ruptures, and developmental themes across the lifespan.
Through this collaborative process, Raquel helps clinicians sharpen their conceptual thinking, strengthen their use of self in the room, and approach their work with renewed clarity and depth.
Raquel is licensed to practice in Maryland, D.C., and Virginia and is Board Certified by the NBCC. She received her Master’s degree in Clinical Counseling from Johns Hopkins University and teaches in the Psychoanalytic Studies Program at the Washington Baltimore Center for Psychoanalysis.
